Al-Mumit – The Taker of Life
Death is the antithesis of life. A wind dies when it stands still. A human dies when he sleeps; sleep is called death by way of analogy: it causes the faculties of reason and almost all other bodily movements to stop.
Al-Hayy – The Ever Living One
The One Who has perfect life, existing in and of Himself and not dependant upon anyone else. The Sustainer of the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth, the One Who regulates their affairs and provisions.
Al-Qayyum – The Self-Existing One
Al-Wajid – The Finder
Al-Wajid is the most Knowing: "And He found you lost and guided (you)" (Quran, 93:7); "... he finds it is nothing but finds Allah before Him, and He will pay him in full his due; and Allah is swift in account." (Quran, 24:39).
Al-Majid – The Glorious
Al-Wahid – The One, the All Inclusive, The Indivisible
He is the One Who is singled out in all aspects of Perfection such that nothing else shares with Him in these.
As-Samad – The Satisfier of All Needs
He is the One upon Whom the whole of creation relies upon in all of their needs, predicaments and necessities. This due to His unrestricted perfection with regards to His Essence, His Names, His Attributes and His Actions.
Al-Qadir – The All Powerful
The One Who has complete and perfect power and ability, by His Power He brought everything into existence, by it He arranges all the affairs, by it He fashioned and perfected the creation, by it He brings to life and causes to die, by it He will resurrect the servants for their recompense
Al-Muqtadir – The Creator of All Power
Al-Muqtadir controls everything through His might which encompasses all His creation. They recognize and venerate His might in the late hours of the night and at both ends of the day.
Al-Muqaddim – The Expediter
Al-Muqaddim means: the One Who presents things and places them in their right place.
Al-Muakhkhir – The Delayer
He delays the disobedient ones and grants His guidance to those who obey Him. He postpones the penalty of the oppressor because He is Compassionate and Merciful.
