There are many good habits that a Muslim must train himself to adopt. Seven of these good habits are as follows:
A good Muslim does not make a habit of swearing by Allah all the time, truthfully or otherwise. If he exercises this kind of self-control and trains his tongue accordingly, this will lead him to break the habit altogether, with or without intention.
Quran is the Book of Allah. Therefore it demands respect because of the wisdom which the Holy Book contains. Here are some of the ways to show our respect to the Quran.
Carry the Quran carefully. When you have the Book of Allah in your bag, keep your attention on it. Don’t allow it falling down or stay on the floor. You should use both hands to get it from the bag. Be carefully and gently when you put it on the desk (it must be clean) or on the wooden reading stand. Don’t hurry when you open the Quran, realize you are touching the wisdom which Allah sent to the human.
Listen to the Quran attentively.
“So when the Quran is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive mercy. “
What guidance do we get from the life of the Prophet
Abdullah goes to your school. He is your friend but he is in another class. He does not come to school everyday. You assume that he must be ill. At dinner time, you drop in on him to see how he is. You find him sitting in the living room reading something. He seems all right, but when you ask him how he is, he bursts into tears. He tells you that another boy in his class is making his life miserable – calling him names, making snide remarks, hiding his things and hitting him. He is so upset that he stayed away from school. Can you help Abdullah? Decide what advice you would give him in the light of the Prophet’s noble teachings.
Praise be to Allah. It is one of the blessings of Allah to the Muslim that He enables him to fast in Ramadan and to spend its nights in prayer. It is a month in which good deeds are multiplied and people are raised in status, when Allah frees some people from the Fire. So the Muslim should strive to make the most of this month and the goodness it brings; he should hasten to spend his life in worship. How many people have been deprived of this month because of sickness, death or misguidance.
The Muslim must make the most of his time during this month; he has an unavoidable duty towards his children, to raise them well and bring them up properly, to urge them to do all kinds of goodness and make them get used to that – because the child will grow up in the manner to which his father makes him get accustomed.
Do you always dream of the years ahead when you will hit your first million, memorise the Qur’an, or break some world record? Or perhaps you jump, to a few months ahead – getting published, married or launching an online business.
The reality is that tomorrow may never come. And those dreams may remain just as they are – Dreams!!! So while it is OK to dream, you need to wake up and build rewarding habits that will aid you towards your goals.
Since new habits take time and consistency, make it a priority so you can capitalize on your youth. Use it for practice upon practice. Don’t take your youth for granted.
Let’s get started with some simple actions…
1. Avoid Complaining
This world is far from perfect and you can’t always have what you want. Rather than dwell on what is wrong, focus on the good and be thankful for every blessing of your youth. And remember, this life is a test.
Memorizing the Quran is a journey like no other. It tests your willpower, your reliance and trust in Allah, your standards, and your determination. It is a journey that will not only change your life, but will change your heart if you let it. The Quran is a huge blessing and responsibility. Those who strive to memorize it will be put through tests and trials in order to be taught the lessons that Allah is teaching, for although we have Quran teachers, Allah is the One who truly teaches us through the Quran.
When you decide to embark on any journey that will change your life for the better, bring you closer to Allah and His words, help you to leave sins, identify and improve your faults and weaknesses, accumulate good deeds, and hopefully help you enter Jannah, Shaytan freaks out and does everything he can to prevent you from taking action. He will do whatever it takes to mess you up, demotivate you, make you feel you’re not good enough or that you can’t accomplish your goals, and it will be a constant struggle. Everyone packs things that they need before going on a journey, and most people never forget to pack what they will need most.
Here are things that you cannot do without as you strive to memorize the Book of Allah. While you are fighting yourself and fighting Shaytan, if you can stay strong and use the below points, the Quran is above any of these obstacles and will be the greatest thing you’ve ever had in your life.
The tips, which you need to use to wake up for Fajr, vary from person to person, depending on what prevents a person from waking up. I offer you to prepare for Fajr on physical, mental and spiritual level.
1) winding down before bed and sleeping early,
2) setting multiple alarms out of one’s immediate reach,
3) simplifying one’s bedding,
4) drinking ample water so one is forced to the washroom, or
5) having a family member or friend wake you up when they rise.
These are some of the main suggestions, of which sleeping early is perhaps the most common remedy.
